The Mass Educational Welfare Society (MEWS), Wokha is a non-governmental organization working for the socio-economic development and welfare of rural communities in Wokha district of Nagaland. The organization was established with the aim of promoting education, sustainable livelihoods, and community empowerment among marginalized and farming communities.

MEWS actively works in areas such as education, agriculture development, livelihood promotion, skill development, and community welfare. The society facilitates capacity building programmes, training, and awareness activities for farmers, women groups, and youth to enhance their knowledge and improve their income opportunities.

The organization also supports farmer collectives and community institutions to strengthen sustainable agricultural practices and value addition initiatives. Through collaboration with government departments, development agencies, and local communities, MEWS strives to create opportunities for rural development and improve the overall quality of life of the people.

Promote Education and Skill Development

MEWS works to expand access to secular, vocational, technical, and skill-based education. The society aims to establish educational institutions, study centers, and training facilities that equip individuals with practical knowledge and employable skills.

Empower Youth and Women

Through training programmes, workshops, and awareness campaigns, the organization supports youth and women in developing leadership abilities, entrepreneurial skills, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Livelihood Promotion

The society encourages income-generating activities such as agriculture, horticulture, livestock farming, weaving, handicrafts, knitting, and other rural enterprises that enhance economic self-sufficiency.

Sustainable Community Development

MEWS promotes environmentally sustainable practices, local resource utilization, and value-added production systems that strengthen community resilience and long-term economic growth.

Financial Inclusion

The organization supports Self-Help Groups (SHGs), individuals, and community groups through financial literacy, microfinance initiatives, credit support, and linkages with financial institutions.

Market Linkages and Entrepreneurship

MEWS facilitates market access for local producers, artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs through trade fairs, exhibitions, marketing support, and the establishment of trade and marketing centers.
